Services / Data

Networks that remain dependable after installation.

Wired networks, managed Wi-Fi and security designed as one environment—then monitored, maintained and supported as the organisation changes.

The service

One foundation for everything connected to it.

A business network carries far more than internet access. Workstations, payment terminals, phones, cameras, printers, guests and building systems may all share the same infrastructure while requiring very different treatment.

microdot designs the underlying environment around those uses and manages every client network through its own UniFi controller. The result is not a loose collection of boxes, but a controlled platform with clear separation, remote visibility and one point of responsibility.

01 / NETWORK ADMINISTRATION

The wired foundation and its connection to the outside world.

Gateways, switches, cabling and internet connections are planned around the building, expected traffic and the consequences of downtime. microdot installs cabling directly in smaller environments; on larger renovation projects, it defines port and access-point positions and agrees routes, trunking and protection with the electricians before terminating and commissioning the delivered cables.

  • Network, port and cable-route design
  • Gateway, switching, VLAN and VPN configuration
  • Provider advice and coordination
  • Dual-WAN, LTE/5G failover and UPS protection
  • Automatic configuration backups and updates
  • Installation, termination and commissioning
02 / MANAGED WI-FI

Coverage and capacity designed for the space.

Access points are positioned using experience, an on-site assessment and practical testing of the building, its materials, user density and actual patterns of use. Where the environment warrants it, predictive and spectrum surveys can be carried out before installation—or afterward when performance requires deeper analysis. One managed system enables consistent roaming and visibility across offices, hospitality spaces and distributed locations.

  • On-site coverage and capacity planning
  • Predictive and spectrum surveys where required
  • Indoor and outdoor access points
  • Consistent roaming across multiple spaces
  • Separate employee, operational and guest access
  • Client isolation and performance optimisation
03 / NETWORK SECURITY

Access governed by purpose, not convenience.

Every gateway is configured with deliberate network separation and secure remote access. Firewall policy and traffic rules follow actual use; IDS/IPS is added where the sensitivity of the environment warrants it. The aim is effective control without complexity that serves no practical purpose.

  • Firewall policy and traffic rules
  • VLAN separation of users, guests and systems
  • VPNs for secure remote and site-to-site access
  • IDS/IPS for security-sensitive environments
  • Restricted management interfaces
  • Firmware maintenance and configuration review

Implementation

Built around the site, not a standard box count.

The work starts with the organisation, the premises and the systems already present. The design is documented before equipment is installed, and implementation is planned to minimise disruption.

01

Assess

Walk the site and map users, spaces, existing cabling, connections and operational dependencies.

02

Design

Define topology, port positions, Wi-Fi coverage, segmentation, capacity and continuity.

03

Implement

Install directly or coordinate cable routes with contractors, then configure, terminate and test.

04

Manage

Bring the site into the controller, document it and begin ongoing monitoring and maintenance.

Ongoing management

Often visible before it becomes a reported problem.

The controller sends email and push notifications when a gateway, switch, access point or entire site goes offline. That regularly allows microdot to contact a client before anyone there has noticed. Remote visibility then helps distinguish a power or provider outage from a local fault and inspect the path between devices.

  • Automated device and site alerts
  • Automatic backups, firmware and configuration maintenance
  • Incident diagnosis and responsive support
  • Changes for users, spaces and connected systems

This is attentive, proactive management. Alerts and response follow the agreed support arrangement. Internet lines remain with the chosen provider; microdot advises, coordinates and diagnoses where that service meets the managed network.

Start with the network that needs attention.
